Lydia Bauman, 'A Study of the New Zealand Landscape'
Artist and art lecturer, Lydia Bauman, recently toured New Zealand hosted by the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies. She will show and talk about the series of New Zealand paintings resulting from her experience. Lydia was inspired by the extraordinary Pacific light and its ability to bring clarity to landforms and emphasis to varied textures in the foreground, background and middle ground of the landscape. She works from photographs to interpret the landscape in paint, using a mixed media technique combining pigments with plaster, and using layers of resin, beeswax and texture gels.
Lydia's series of New Zealand-inspired paintings will be shown as part of the Wellington Festival of the Arts in 2016 and at a private viewing in her studio in May 2015.
