New Zealand singer Kimbra Lee Johnson, known as Kimbra, mixes pop with classic R&B, jazz and rock musical elements. Her debut album, Vows, released in 2011. Vows reached the top 5 in New Zealand and Australia and debuted at No. 14 on the US Billboard charts. Kimbra is featured in the 2012 multi-platinum single “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye.
In February 2013, Kimbra and Gotye won the “Record of the Year” and “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” awards for “Somebody That I Used to Know.” This achievement made her only the third New Zealand singer to win a Grammy Award. Kimbra’s second studio album, The Golden Echo, released on August 2014 to positive critical reception.
Over the course of two years to follow, she pondered what would eventually become Primal Heart. Working with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer John Congleton (Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent), Kimbra produced her latest work and is going on tour in North America in early 2018.
