The music performed by the internationally recognised New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir is youthful and vibrant, with an “infectious joy for music making”. The choir has up to 60 members, nationally auditioned and from schools all over New Zealand. They gather for one week of every school holidays to rehearse and perform, including at national events such as the recent national ANZAC commemorations, and at the end of each two-year cycle, the choir tours to represent New Zealand at an international festival or competition. In 2018, this tour is to Hong Kong and Shanghai.
In Hong Kong they will work with Wah Yan College Kowloon and the Hong Kong Baptist University to present a new choral commission in Mandarin and Maori languages, with traditional Chinese instruments. They will then attend the Belt and Road World Choir Festival as Resident Choir before travelling to Shanghai to work with local choirs and perform for the Kiwi community at New Zealand Central.
Numbers are limited so please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 July.
