Iris Dreaming to have its New Zealand premiere

The biennial celebration of chamber music, the Nelson 2017 International Chamber Music Festival / Adam Chamber Music Festival has earned Nelson the title ‘Salzburg of the South’, as world-renowned musicians fill coveted programme slots.   This year it is to include the New Zealand premiere of Iris Dreamingthe one-woman opera based on the life of poet and novelist Iris Wilkinson, or rather Robin Hyde, the author better known for writing ‘The Godwits Fly’.   We are delighted that the production, composed by Dame Gillian Whitehead, with libretto by Fleur Adcock, is now being performed in New Zealand by the NZ Trio, with London-based soprano Joanne Roughton-Arnold.
