An evening of music and words to launch Iris Dreaming, a new opera by
renowned NZ contemporary composer Gillian Whitehead and librettist Fleur
Adcock, based on the life of celebrated New Zealand writer and feminist,
Soprano Joanne Roughton-Arnold and pianist Marc Verter will perform pieces
by Gillian Whitehead, Douglas Lilburn, Charles Gounod, William Walton,
Rachmaninov & Strauss as part of this beautiful programme of vocal music.
The concert will also include readings by celebrated New Zealand-born poet
Fleur Adcock, one of the most influential poets working in Britain today.
This is a phenomenal chance to meet NZ's rising opera star Joanne Roughton-Arnold, Fleur Adcock and conductor Holly Mathieson, and enjoy some of NZ's most stunning vocal music with a glass of wine
Funds raised will support the production costs for the world premiere of the opera at the 2016 Arts Festival Dunedin.
