Books about Town Agatha Christie BookBench official Launch
Books about Town is a massive Public Art event currently in London this summer! Find all 50 unique BookBench sculptures, designed by local artists and famous names to celebrate London’s literary heritage and reading for enjoyment.
New Zealand Artist Mandii Pope has created three of them. Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly by Agatha Christie, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis, and An Elephant for Breakfast by New Zealand Author Zella (Kate Studholme)
Meet Poirot, the artists and win books at the Agatha Christie BookBench
Saturday the 26th July, 2014
Visit the Hercule Poirot and Greenshore Folly BookBench in Bloomsbury Square Gardens on 26 July for a chance to meet Poirot and the artists behind the iconic BookBench!
From 1.30pm until 2.30pm come and meet the artists behind the design. You’ll have the opportunity to ask Tom Adams about his inspiration for the artwork for the newly published novella Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly, following on from his famous Agatha Christie cover art from the 1970s. Alongside Tom will be artist Mandii Pope, who will offer her insights on recreating Tom's iconic design for the bench. There may even be a guest appearance by Matthew Pritchard (Agatha Christie's grandson)
Throughout the afternoon from 1.30pm until 4.00pm Hercule Poirot (our own version, not David Suchet!) will be on hand - have your photo taken with him on the Agatha Christie Book Bench! Dress up to theme (optional)
There will also be an exclusive book giveaway with 25 lucky people winning books, courtesy of HarperCollins publishers. Details TBC.
We look forward to seeing you there.
