30th Anniversary of New Zealand becoming Nuclear Free

30th Anniversary of New Zealand becoming Nuclear Free

The Peace Foundation is organising a plaque to be unveiled by Mayor Phil Goff on Sunday 11 June. The plaque will be unveiled next to the Pohutakawa tree for Peace, planted on 11/11/11.

At the same time, the occasion is an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of New Zealand declaring to the world it would be nuclear-free, as shown in the legislation adopted on 8 June 1987.

We shall come together to form a Human Peace symbol - a message from the past to empower the younger generation to carry the torch for peace into the future.

This image will go around the world to inspire people: From Nuclear Free New Zealand for a Nuclear Free world.
