The New Zealand Embassy in Chile represents the New Zealand Government in Chile, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador. It works to strengthen the political, economic and commercial, and cultural links between New Zealand and these countries, and to provide consular services to New Zealanders. The Embassy is staffed by seconded and local staff representing the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, and Education New Zealand.
In the political sphere, the Embassy has the objective of bringing New Zealand closer to Chile, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador through promoting policy dialogue focusing on sectors such as Agriculture, Energy, Environment and Education. It supports regular visits and exchanges aimed at achieving mutually beneficial outcomes in these areas with government, business and academia. It also supports the negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP).
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is co-located with the Embassy. NZTE is New Zealand’s international business development agency, whose role is to help New Zealand businesses build strategic alliances and develop commercial relationships internationally. Through a global network of 45 offices, NZTE connects New Zealand businesses with the world, sharing opportunities, knowledge, experience and networks.
