FoodCap's material handling systems are fully operational in New Zealand. It is the heart of an integrated central processing and distribution facility that handles beef, pork, lamb and chicken, with a separate plant for seafood.
The Countdown meat plant uses FoodCap capsules for primal meat packing and storage and for the secure order picking and distribution of retail case-ready consumer packed meat to supermarkets.
The use of FoodCap capsules has allowed high levels of plant control software and automation to be deployed enabling a dramatic reduction in not only the footprint of the plant, but the subsequent labour required to operate it. Additional to this, the system has delivered improved efficiency, product security and hygiene, reduced packaging waste and importantly a lower handling cost per unit.
Today FoodCap is heavily focused on a Research and Development programme to develop the next generation of food capsules and handling equipment for the fresh chilled meat processing and distribution sectors.
