Seeking mentors for young Kiwi students

World Mentor New Zealand is not-for-profit charitable trust, started to help Kiwi kids learn about the world around them and share some of the global experiences of our expat community.

We have been connecting mentors with high school students in New Zealand since 2007, improving student confidence, giving mentors an insight into the thinking of the youth of today, and helping students develop an appreciation for the opportunities in the world around them.

The World Mentor NZ team, at www.worldmentor.net/nz, would like to invite you and your fellow Kea network members to mentor young Kiwi students in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, starting in April over a period of nine weeks, on topics ranging from career choice to personal development. How long would it take? About an hour a week of your time, over an easy-to-use website, at any time of the day that suits you from anywhere in the world.

“I liked the chance to look at new materials and content – and I’m a senior executive who held key roles with some massively global multi-billion dollar companies. I currently sit on the boards of a number of businesses, and having this mentoring experience was very helpful in my own career. You are never too old to learn!”
- Chip D, Mentor, World Mentor 2010

What does World Mentor do? Built over years of development, WM is an innovative web-based e-mentoring programme that vastly expands the benefits of mentoring to young people. Using an innovative and easy-to-use website, we provide young people with access to experienced, skilled, and successful leaders from all walks of life, people like yourself. We facilitate this learning experience by using tailored mentoring content and advanced technology to allow mentors and students to connect worldwide over a broad range of subjects.

Our project participants greatly benefit from their experience and highly recommend it:

“This is the most amazing project I have been involved in for years. In fact, I haven't been this excited by something in education ever. I am witnessing students who are excited, stimulated and already challenged by the ideas and opinions of their mentors. They are stopping me in the corridor and telling me what is happening. Thank you so much for this opportunity.“
– Celia M, Teacher, World Mentor 2008

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to become a more independent and inter-dependent person. Anyone would greatly benefit from the programme!”
– Brook A, Student, World Mentor 2010

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in and we are sure you will gain from this experience – both in your professional and personal lives.
