Kea Korea

Kea is represented in Korea by The Kiwi Chamber. Kea manages the online connectivity of Kea members in Korea and works with The Kiwi Chamber on events and local communications.

Through this affiliation, Kea and The Kiwi Chamber will seek to enhance the connectivity and benefits for members and partners alike in Korea.

About The Kiwi Chamber
The New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Korea, known as The Kiwi Chamber, was founded in November 2008 and is based in Seoul, South Korea. As of July 2009, The Kiwi Chamber has over 150 members and 16 gold and silver sponsors.

Our mission is to provide assistance to our members and associated companies, organisations or individuals with an interest in the Korea - New Zealand business and trade relationship, by creating support networks that enable them to pursue their commercial interests in either country.

The Chamber shall:

  • Provide creative, high-quality and innovative services and programs to support its members.
  • Promote trade, technology transfer and investment between New Zealand and Korea through a better understanding of the business practices in each country.
  • Provide an effective advocacy group for informing the Korean Government of the views and interests of New Zealand businesses located in or trading with Korea and to assist Korean businesses interact and express views and interests with the New Zealand Government.
  • Host forums for New Zealand and Korean companies within Korea to exchange views, experiences and to extend contacts.
  • Provide networking and mentoring program opportunities to New Zealanders working in Korea and for Koreans intending to live and work in New Zealand.
  • Seek to deepen the appreciation of Korea’s and New Zealand’s culture, history and heritage amongst its members.
  • Establish close links with like organisations or associations to enhance closer relations to the benefit of all members.

Within the first year of operation, the Kiwi Chamber has hosted the introduction of New Zealand’s new Ambassador to Korea, Richard Mann and the visit of NZ’s Minister of Trade, Tim Groser at the launch of FTA negotiations in June 2009.

In August 2009, NZ MP Melisa Lee visited Korea for the first time since becoming an MP. This was a special event as Ms. Lee is of Korean decent and is also Korea's first overseas elected woman politician.

In addition, The Kiwi chamber hosts several social events and will continue to provide entertaining gatherings for member and friends of The Kiwi Chamber.
