Management Team

Kea is a not-for-profit society incorporated in New Zealand with international groups currently operating in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New England, New York, Sydney, Melbourne, China, The Netherlands, Middle East, France and the United Kingdom.

Kea is governed by a Global Board which delegates day-to-day management of the organisation to Chief Executive, Ivan Moss, who is based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Ivan Moss was appointed CEO of Kea in August 2007. Ivan's priorities are to build on the achievements to date: to continue growing Kea's worldwide networking presence; excite New Zealand companies and talent to use Kea to develop their own professional networks; and to help New Zealand companies grow. Ivan returned to New Zealand in 2006 from Switzerland where he worked at IMD Business School, designing and facilitating strategy development and change programmes for major multinationals such as Nestle, Carlsberg and Visa. On his return, Ivan worked with the ICEHOUSE business incubator to help create and grow internationally successful New Zealand businesses. A chartered accountant, Ivan has a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University. He has significant experience as a management consultant, financial controller and leader of change projects.

Nikitin Sallee is based in Los Angeles, and supports Kea by managing a range of special projects. Nikitin has been involved in Kea since it was first conceived in 2001, and was the founding Chair of Kea's Los Angeles chapter. Nikitin was the founding Communications Director for the NZ Treasury during the economic reforms of the late 1980s and mid 1990s, and has held various other government and public-relations roles in the public and private sectors. Nikitin was previously an award-winning journalist for National Business Review, Radio Pacific and Radio New Zealand.

Peter Elmsly joined Kea as the Global Operations Manager and his main role is to help the overseas based Regional Managers. He has spent most of his working life connected with tourism and aviation, a chartered accountant by qualification but a sales and marketing person by experience. Peter has been based in London, Melbourne, Tokyo and Shanghai and returned to New Zealand in May 2008.

Sue Sinclair joined Kea in May 2008 and her role is to manage the World Class New Zealand Network. Sue’s focus will be on working with World Class New Zealand network members individually and through a programme of events to enable them to maintain and strengthen their ties with New Zealand and contribute their unique talents and influence to the benefit of New Zealand. Sue has a strong background in network building, event management, research, teaching and sales and marketing.

Phillip Loader joined the Kea team in June 2008 and will be developing the Venture Mentor Network and act as the contact point for all Venture Mentor Network seekers coming out of New Zealand. The Venture Mentor Network proactively connects aspiring New Zealand companies, projects and individuals with a large and talented pool of Kea members around the world.
Phil joins Kea from Grow Wellington (Wellington’s economic development agency), where he was manager of business development, and previously owned and operated ITC companies in New Zealand and the UK.

Anna Groot joined Kea as UK Regional Manager in September 2007. She provides a regional access point to encourage international stakeholders to engage with the Kea network. Anna's career spans a diverse array of sectors, industries and locations. From logistical planning for Cirque Du Soleil's European Tour to developing HR policy at Greenpeace International, Anna's specialty is project management in an international setting. She was most recently with Innovision in London where she worked as a Senior Producer on Live Events for clients in the corporate, government, and non-profit sectors. She holds a BA in Politics and Anthropology from the University of Auckland.

Kathryn Bryant joined Kea in mid-December 2007 as Regional Manager Australia, based based in Sydney. Over the past six years, Kathryn has had event, sponsorship and project management roles in Australia with Minter Ellison, UBS and Pharma Events - all with a business development focus. These roles have enabled Kathryn to facilitate and encourage relationships through event and sponsorship management, with a strong focus on communication. Kathryn hopes to use her knowledge and experience, as well as her passion for everything Kiwi, to connect talented New Zealanders in Australia with each other and their "homeland".
Irene Li was born and grew up in Shanghai, moving to NZ in 1994. She spent more than ten years living and working in Auckland, predominately in import/export marketing, and eventually established her own footwear importing/wholesaling company. Irene returned to China in early 2005 when her husband was seconded to Shanghai by NZTE. For the past three years, Irene has been actively involved with the Kiwi community in Shanghai, working on cultural projects for the NZ Consulate and translating promotional material and interpreting at press conferences for NZTE. Irene started her role with Kea mid-February and is focused on getting to know her local members and continuing Lynn’s good work.
